Special Mention: IIT Delhi Technopark-ITEC
Lack of equitable access to education has deprived 7.7 lakhs visually impaired students in India from gaining quality education. Because of unavailability of accessible educational resources, students are unable to pursue subjects of their choice especially graphic intensive STEM subjects. The overall impact is limited learning and career opportunities, which eventually leads to dependence, low self-esteem and exclusion.
Raised Lines Foundation (RLF) is a social impact organisation committed to bridge this gap and enable equal learning opportunities by:
RLF has a team of expert designers and employs the industrial production process suitable for low-cost and large production, which makes our solution affordable as well as scalable. Students with blindness and low-vision use these books for better conceptual understanding and their parents, special educators and teachers use them as effective teaching aids. Till date, RLF has designed 30+ titles comprising of 2000 unique diagrams. More than 6,500 tactile books have been produced with 1.5 lakhs tactile diagrams and disseminated them to 50+ schools and institutions around India. RLF’s books are being used in 30 cities across India.
RLF is working towards bringing a transformational change in quality of education for VI students by providing access to high quality and affordable tactile diagrams and supporting learning materials, which will help them, gain comprehensive learning experience.
About Organisation
Raised Lines foundation (RLF) is a section 8, not for profit company focused on developement of affordable tactile diagrams and learning aids for supporting education of persons with visual impairment. This company is an outcome of four years of research undertaken at Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Tactile Graphics, at IIT Delhi, sponsored by MeitY, Government of India.
RLF is incubated at IIT Delhi Technopark, Sonepat campus, and is closely working with NCERT, SSA and organizations working in the field of blindness to convert and provide educational resources in accessible formats. Know more about RLF at RAISEDLINES.ORG
